As a Vitapro Chile brand, Salmofood Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainability with Significant Reduction in Carbon Footprint

At Salmofood, a Vitapro Chile brand, we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to continuously reducing the environmental impact of our operations, in alignment with our sustainability roadmap. We are pleased to report a significant decrease in the carbon footprint of our fish feed during 2023.

Specifically, our carbon footprint reached 2.5 tons of CO₂ equivalent per ton of feed—representing a 7% reduction compared to our 2022 baseline. This milestone reflects our ongoing and consistent efforts to improve our production practices and processes.

To calculate our carbon footprint, we used the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology—a rigorous and comprehensive technique that evaluates all greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production of our fish feed. This includes not only direct emissions from our operations but also those linked to the production of the raw materials used in our formulations.

This holistic approach gives us a clear and accurate view of the total environmental impact of our products and allows us to identify key opportunities for further improvement. We remain committed to working closely with our suppliers and partners to ensure that every component of our supply chain contributes to our sustainability goals.
